6 km Manathon – You can do it…

You can do it…

If you Believe in youself…

If you are happy about it…

If you are excited about it…

One night I get a call from my friend.. hey there is a marathon .. sorry.. manathon on 18th March organized by students of JBIMS.. can you also register… I thought for a while and did it….

I am not a person who runs marathon regularly.. and to be precise this would be my 2nd marathon after the Mumbai Half marathon back in jan 2007… I was not sure I would be able to do it .. i had registered 15 days before the actual run.. Thought oh 15 days with me and I would practice every day.. but not to a surprise I did not do any practice…

One week before i.e. 11 March, 2018 I went out for dinner with my friend and his wife. He was also the one who had participated in Mumbai marathon 2007 with me.. and while having a ramdon talks at Dominos Pizza… our conversation moved from international trips to national trips to Manathon.. I told him I have registered for Manathon 2018 and all our memories of Mumbai Marathon came live.

He without thinking for another second confirmed that he would join me and me without a second thought registered him right away.

Wowwww we were so happy and excited… slowly the days passed and the 18th March 2018 arrived.

Dipesh gave me a ring right at 4:45 Am. We had to reach the venue at 5:30 Am as mentioned in the registration reply. Me and Dipesh are blessed with the very rare quality i.e. punctuality. We began our drive right at 5:10 Am.

It is so strange that if we have to wake up for exercise or for office at 0400 hours we would snooze alarm many times or make so many excuses to our body before waking up but for something that you are excited you can wake up without an alarm.

We reached the venue at 5:35 am and were finding it little difficult to find the location but thanks to google maps and location map sent by organizers. It took us 10 minutes to find the actual location but the fun we both had in those ten minutes could not be put in words. It was fun to move from one lane to another and from one location to another in dark – Just we two, Dipesh’s car and empty roads.

Finally we reached the venue and soon parked the car and joined the line to collect the T-shirt (one of the reason for the excitement). Soon we were ready to run the race. We could see many people stretching their body doing warm up exercise and we both were just being happy with the fact that we have come for Manathon. Achievements need not be termed big or looked from monetary point of view. Achievement may be different for every individual and for me and Dipesh coming for a Manathon itself was an achievement.

Soon it was 0630 hours and the signal to begin the race was heard. Soon we joined the group to run. Before the number word “GO” was heard me and dipesh took a target, “pata hai first to nahi aayenge.. lekin last bhi nahi aana hai.” We were so confidence and knew the reality that we are not competent enough to come first but we also know knew that we should not come last too.

We started running and first KM was too tough. We started running little and soon our legs started Paining and we look at each other and smiled. We continuously looked backward to ensure that we had enough people behind us. People behind us were the actual motivator for us and kept us going.

We both are not a regular runner so we formed our own strategy to complete the race. We decided that we both will run for some time and walk for some time, whenever there would be a road crossing we would run and then walk. Slowly and steadily we forgot about the pain and started enjoying the run. It was each other’s company that kept us going and gave strength to complete the 6KM run.

On the journey of 6 km run we talked a lot, smiled a lot, laughed a lot. We looked both sides of the road we walked/Run looked at the beautiful sunrise, huge corporate offices of various Banks, upcoming big project by Reliance Industries, ICAI, Cricket academy by sharad pawar, JIO Garden and so on. Communication between us changed from different topics across various things we saw and felt.

We passed through various check points on the route, One of the check Point was mapped by my friend who asked me to register for the Manathon, it was a happy moment of surprise to see her, crossed all check points and reached the finish point. On the journey of 6 km run we talked a lot, smiled a lot, laughed a lot.  Me and Dipesh both were smiling with a sense of satisfaction. Our souls were very Happy and the special moment of getting the finishers Medal make it more exciting.  Though the race was just 6km not a big number for regular runners but for us it was a great achievement because of 2 reasons

  1. We believed in ourselves that we can complete the race.
  2. We both enjoyed each other’s support, motivation, Companionship.

However smallest is the achievement it is in the eyes of the world, the size of achievement is decided by the achiever. For us it was a great memory and a wonderful achievement. We laughed a lot for the entire episode and it would keep us going and adding smiles to our life.

It was a great achievement for the organizers also as it was the first edition of Manathon for them also and even it was a start of the race for them also. We had completed the race but with the end of the race of all the Runners which started the Race for the organizers of Manathon i.e. Students of JBIMS – Part Time batch.

If we are excited and happy about what we do, we get energy from our soul. Things which we believe in, things we are happy doing, things we love doing, we surely succeed in it. We may take time, go through pain, but we would love that pain too if we are happy about what we are doing. Success if a debatable term and differs from individual to individual.

Life is all about creating memories  and would like to thank Hiral, Prashant (organizer team), JBIMS Students, Dipesh Karani to help me creating Memories and to achieve a milestone in my life.

Manathon helped me pumping positive energy and releasing negative energy in the form of sweat., Boosting faith in myself and my soul, making me happy, smiling, creating memories and the most important to make me  Believe in the words,

“I can DO IT.”
